Course Description

This interdisciplinary field integrates principles from computer science, engineering, and information technology to design, implement, and maintain secure systems and networks. Students will develop a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including:

Threat Modeling & Risk Assessment: Identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential cyber threats.

Cryptography & Data Security: Securing data in transit and at rest using encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms.

Network Security: Protecting computer networks from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction.

System Security: Securing operating systems, applications, and databases from vulnerabilities and attacks.

Incident Response & Disaster Recovery: Developing and implementing plans to respond to and recover from cyber security incidents.

Ethical Hacking & Penetration Testing: Identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities in systems to improve security posture.

Requirements:

Basic Computer Skills
Little or no work experience
Fundamental Understanding of Project Management
A willingness to learn, experiment, and continuously improve
Ability to commit at least 4-5 hours per week
